American Chestnut was once once a popular wood, but is now extremely rare due to scarcity. Few of these trees remain due to inability to resist a foreign fungus. This tree was taken down for highway expansion over ten years ago, and was collected by a woodworker who offered me what survived outdoor storage. The incredible selection that offered this beautiful piece of wood was found deep within this very large American Chestnut tree.
