An Australian Red Mallee burl was used for the main wood on this piece, being cut in half and opened like a book. The wood was arranged so its natural outer edges face each other and an Australian Banksia Seed Pod was placed in the gap. Blue and red Polyurethane resin with pearl mica powder -added for a glowing pearlescence- was used to fill the gap. The firmly fastened base is made of solid steel.
