In the woodworking world, “figure” refers to the washboard appearance created by grain distortion due to immense compression in that portion of the tree during its life. These regions show an iridescence when moved. The sculpture shows a wonderful blend of both figuring and burled portions. Made from one piece but sculpted in two, the separate pieces are fastened at each end. Stands 23 inches tall.
