This is a single plank of dyed and laminated birch wood, cut in two pieces and sculpted to match. The light stripes are the original birch color, and every 2nd and 3rd layer are dyed brown. The two forms stand separately, lightly touching at the top. The base is solid steel, supporting long 1/2" diameter steel rods, fastened beneath. The sculpture is heavy and rigid.
