The twisted glass form is being suspended in the gap of a halved piece of Cinnamomum Camphora burl wood, also known as Asian Camphor -a medicinal wood. The spots covering the wood are much more red than the photos express. The spiraling glass form is captured by the wood because the mating shapes are opposing helical angles. There are no adhesives or fasteners suspending the glass.
